5 year mark

I hit five years with my ICLs at the beginning of this month, and not much has changed.  Literally.  I still have halos.  I still have YAG hole artifacting.  I still see 20/20.   I am still happy I had my surgery.  And if you are considering ICL surgery, my mantra is still the same:  do your due diligence (research) and be realistic in your expectations.

I am now about 1.5 years since my ICL surgery and remain very unhappy with it. I too have the same halos - and thankfully with the summer time they are getting better. How have you coped with them? Unfortunately my surgery only corrected to about 20/40-50 (I was not informed I probably wouldn't be corrected all the way pre-surgery), so I now wear contacts/glasses daily. I'm considering getting them removed but it's such a difficult decision. Would you say time made the halos seem more bearable?

For me, coping comes down to remembering what it was like for me pre-surgery. If you've read the rest of my blog, you know that I had problems finding contacts I could wear, dry eye was aggravating that, and glasses provided too much distortion. I hated not being able to see while swimming. I usually kept my contacts in while swimming and just never went under water. So, for me, coping is knowing I'm better off having had the surgery.

Did you doctor mention having lasik after surgery? My doctor told me from the beginning that lasik after ICL might be necessary, but luckily for me it wasn't. You didn't mention what your vision was prior to surgery, so I don't know how far they had to correct you for. I was -11 and -12, and now I'm 20/20. Yes the halos are a drag at night, but the amazing distance vision I have in daylight is a decent tradeoff. :)
